Ah, what a lovely image of solidarity Senator Lindsay Graham paints for us in the Senate censure hearings:
Nixon Aide Urges Censure Of Bush - CBS News
“Censure is destructive,” Graham said. “Censure breaks us apart at a time when we need to be brought together.”
Would that it were true.
The fact is that so many Republicans are dragging thier heels on this investigation, we can expect it to go about as far as the here-to-fore unreleased investigation into the Administration’s use of intelligence leading up to the Iraq War. But then, this is the sleazy bastard that brought us the “your not a biggot,” line of Alito confirmation hearing fame. Certainly, here is a high-minded civil servent if ever there was one.
The wiretapping thing has been getting precious little media coverage over the last few weeks, and isn’t that a strange thing? It certainly seems to be that a bit more press coverage is exactly what this issue needs, and what is going to do that if someone doesn’t make some noise about it? Feingold is absolutely right to have put this up for a vote, and it’s just too goddamned bad if the Dems don’t have the balls to do anything about it. They all cower in corners and make like they’re busy tying thier shoelaces so as not to appear to have any stones at all.
I think what truly depresses me more than anything else is that we need to keep these weak, pointless paper-pushers in office in order to get anything done. Democracy and nothing less hangs in the balance, and these guys just sit there like battered wives, unable to do anything at all.
Phah! A pox on both thier houses.
