The Atomic Swindlers

Show Day Update! Today’s the day (March 31st) and I’m updating this one last time.  Please go to the top of the blog and see the open thread started there if you want to comment on this blog or ask a question through the blog!  Thanks!

Updated: Looks like I’ll be able to tease out some of the new Atomic Swindlers music on the show! I’ve gotten an updated press kit and I’m getting things together for the big show. If you’re going to be there, post a comment and pass it on to your friends! Or, if you feel so inclined, Digg it!!

I’ve been speaking with the manager of The Atomic Swindlers for a while, and I’ve confirmed with April, the lead singer. March 31st, 11am, Flight of the Dragonfly on BlogTalkRadio.com will feature April Laragy as guest!

I’m going to rap with April about all things Swindlers: how they got started, where they draw their music from and how they write together, what’s coming on the long-awaited new album and the skinny on the newest member of the Swindlers, Mike Gladstone. The Swindlers are playing a show at High Fidelity (formerly Milestones) on that same evening, so this seemed a perfect time for the interview.

Seriously, don’t miss this show. April’s a freakin’ scream, for a start. I’m also going to be playing a few snippets of music from their current album, Coming Out Electric. You can catch other tunes in their entirety either at their MySpace.com site or their home page.

You can buy their album and more at the DragonFlyEye.Net Book Store.

In other DragonFlyEye.Net news, I’ve been playing around with Yahoo!Pipes for a little while, now. My thought is to combine all my various and sundry feeds into one big “DFE Pipe” feed output. In my head, at least, this would obviate the need to put out “New Article” posts, or promote any but the most important FOTD shows, or whatever, on the blog and clutter things. Also, assuming they get their time-sensitivity problems worked out, I should also be able to promote upcoming gigs and events as well.

The idea is to have all things DFE available through one feed. The trouble is, as alluded to in the above graph, that Yahoo! needs to work out some things with Pipes before they become a truly relevant way of handling feeds. You can do some interesting stuff with them, but until they allow you to handle *items and attributes* within an entry - until they allow you to use data from a given feed item as variables in other functions - much of the potential for this new platform remains sadly out of reach.
