Former governor of Massachusetts and current Republican Stooge Mitt Romney, in a bid to show off his foreign policy chops, has made this stunning announcement:

Romney Open to Iran ‘Bombardment’

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Republican Mitt Romney said Thursday he would be willing to use a military blockade or “bombardment of some kind” to prevent Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon. The former Massachusetts governor’s comments came as the Bush administration announced new sanctions designed to isolate the government in Tehran. Romney applauded the move, while several Democratic presidential contenders spoke out against it—and used it as an opportunity to criticize front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Ah. This was your opportunity to criticize Hillary Clinton?  It would have been as well had you not bothered.

The thing no one ever talks about when these blow-hards begin talking about foreign policy is that Americans are not the only ones watching American media: foreign leaders that these idiots will need to work with as president are listening as well.  Diplomacy is about political maneuvering just like American politics is, and if you reveal too much either about your motives or your lack of knowledge, that’s just giving intelligent people (not all of whom exist in the U.S. of A.) a trump card or two for later.  You can’t just say, “well, I was only kidding.”

So, opening your mouth without knowing what exact “kind” of “bombardment” you have in mind is not a very good idea at all.  This is particularly true when dealing with a country like Iran, from whence our concepts “haggling” and “bartering” originate.  We like to think of them as just a bunch of religious loonies (as distinct from our own Republican Party, which is. . .  wait, never mind), but the Iranians have actually managed to play the administration like a song for the last eight years. 

I mean, during the Clinton Administration, they were at least pretending to abide by sanctions.  Now, they’re openly defying sanctions.  Now, all the forces wishing to stop their nuclear aims are in complete disarray, fighting among themselves over the best way to proceed.  Now, the United States has begun openly discussing war, which is completely unreasonable, the biggest mistake we could make, and likely to cause a revolt at home.

But these Republican idiots still think they’re playing a cagey game only they can win. . .
