by Thomas J. Belknap Election Day, People!

This is it, the moment of truth.  This is the day we find out whether the Republican plan to steal your kid’s lunch money, then use Maggie’s Millions to buy racist fliers and win the election works.  Now’s the time, if you haven’t already, to check in with your friends, neighbors and relatives to make sure they vote!

Over at RochesterTurning.com, they’re discussing the ruling against the Monroe County Republicans.  They’ve been doing yeoman’s work as always covering the story this whole time, it’s just a shame that the ruling comes the day before the election and gets one television story’s worth of coverage.  Even here, Wease was positively railing against the Republican’s fear tactics again this morning, and was bitching about the WHAM story because they apparently showed one political science professor claiming that the fear of illegal immigrant terrorists was legitimate.  It looks as though they might have cut this bit in the web version of the story, either that or Wease is confused.

But I think it’s good that Wease decided to take the issue up on his show.  It’s a bit hard, because his wife is in the race, and that automatically gives nay-sayers a “sour grapes” defense.  But he has a big audience, and that audience needs to know they’re not alone in getting the irritating robo-calls, and that they’re being lied to.  Actually, I feel a bit left out, having only a cell phone and not getting the robo-calls.  Poor me!

If we’re going to see a change to this kind of politics, we need to change the legislature.  We need to make the Monroe County Legislature a place that is open and accountable to the public, not one sleazy political operative and his dopey minions.

  • Rochester radio landscape now without Bud Lowell

The seven minute piece about Hickey Freeman skillfully integrates ambient audio, the voices of people not frequently heard on corporate radio and Bud's narration. Like so many of Bud's pieces the story doesn't just inform. The listener is left feeling richer . . . More. . .   ||    Get the Feed
