Well, when in desperate times, Hillary will resort to desperate measures, it seems.  In the wake of what should have been a crushing defeat of Barack Obama and turned into a sputtering draw where Hillary Clinton took less states but ended up with more delegates, it seems Hillary has turned her back on principle and accepted Fox News’ offer to host a debate between the two candidates.  If Obama takes the high road and continues to ignore Fox’s offer, she can claim he’s dodging a fight.  But how does a debate on the all-but-avowed Hillary Hate Network help Clinton’s chances other than counting on him to refuse?

Oh, there’s a LOT more to it than that!

Obama is painting himself as someone who can heal and mend fences with Republicans.

This is not a desperate move, by any means. It shuts the door on Obama’s call for unification. Anytime he mentions it again, she can point out that she accepted a call from the enemy to walk into the lion’s den and he chickened out.

  • Hmm. . .

That’s an interesting angle, I’d not thought about it. Are you reading somewhere that this is the specific plan?

Personally, I don’t think it’s a very good one. There’s a big – and easily communicated – difference between reaching out to Republicans and simply accepting a propaganda machine for the hard-right as legitimate. Clearly, the immigration debate and the entire primary process have both proven that Fox is not simply a mouthpeice of the Republicans, but of the extreme right.

Now, of course, the whole MSNBC / Pimping Chelsea outrage thing might be more of the same. But again, I think it’s stupid tactics. Here, she only ends up looking like she’s playing the victim again, even if she’s got reason to be pissed.

But it’s going to be interesting, no doubt about that!

Thanks for the comment, by the way!
