Just a comment on today’ s D & C article, Wayne Zyra HAS NOT been elected President of the Legislature. That does not happen by a vote of the Republican Majority in a closed room but at the first meeting of the Legislature — the full Legislature, Democrats and Republicans. Now yes the R’s still do control the majority, but by one slim tiny little vote. Wouldn’t it be the greatest show of courage and cojones if one of our Republican colleagues joined the Democrats and selected someone else as President? What would that change? Well the President controls the floor debate, controls what Legislation makes it to the floor and generally controls….a bi-partisanly chosen President …. a dream that could be a reality. That first leap really isnt that hard…maybe someone will take it!

Do you have any suspicions/information that this might actually happen, or is this fact-free wishful thinking?
I do not have information that this might happen, my point is that it is a possibility if people are willing to take a chance. Now would be the time. BUT… no reason to believe that any Republican would go that far.
