Rochester Gets Screwed

A new article in the Democrat and Chronical shows that the City just learned this week that we are getting screwed out of 3.1 million in Federal grants this year.? So, are you still in favour of tax cuts?

Among the affected programs is the Rochester Fatherhood Initiative, which is a program aimed at urban men in thier twenties, trying to keep them off the streets and with thier families.? But that is not going to be the only affected program by a long shot.? For example, I know that the Academy for Career Development, where I recieved my first training in PC technology, supports the RFI’s technology infrastructure along with many other non-profits in the area.? If RFI cannot afford to pay as much for these services, then that means apprentices at ACD out of apprenticeships.? Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that ACD does good work and deserves better.

These are the kinds of local stories that go underreported in the vaunted MSM, though in fairness there’s very little national news can do to report such small stories.? But this is really critical stuff that goes to the bread-and-butter issues of every American.? Having such programs means less idle people in the streets, more productive people in the workplace, and more money in the tax base.
