If you read this blog, chances are you’ll get a kick out of this. So, I figured it was worth sharing…
A guy who is friends with my uncle heard bits and pieces of our new CD and was so into it that he bought 4 of them… 1 to keep and 1 to give to his friends.
Now that’s a fan! …Or at least we all thought so.
Turns out the guy goes on a business trip this week and while in his hotel room, decides to listen to the album from start to finish.
He gets to the part in “New Texas Jamboree” where I sing about Saddam Hussein and the weapons of mass destruction – or lack there of… and this got him mad.
He went back and listened to the whole album a few more times – scanning it for anything liberal sounding, while at the same time carefully reading the liner notes and somehow comes to the conclusion that we… or at least I, am a dirty rotten liberal and he can no longer support what we’re doing. “I don’t dig Bush Bashing,” he said.
Well, yeah he’s right, and yes, our album is me going easy on politics for sure. I can totally write a lot more in your face lyrics than that! Besides it was a fun, joke kind of song. Lighten up dude!
He doesn’t want his money back or anything, as to not stir up any more problems with my uncle, or me but he will not be giving away the other copies of the CD and doubts he’ll ever listen to his copy again.
Yes folks… this is the country we live in. Maybe now I’ll end up on tour with the Dixie Chicks or something!
