As a federal jury deliberated last week in a multimillion-dollar fraud and kickback trial, property appraiser John E. Nicolo loudly invited his lawyers to visit him and his wife this summer on their farm in Yates County.
But Nicolo’s social plans crashed and burned Tuesday when he was taken
into custody after being convicted of conspiracy, mail fraud, wire
fraud, money laundering and defrauding the Internal Revenue Service.
